Georgia Loizou

Overview

With a background in fine art, Georgia loves the spontaneity of painting straight onto her creations before the firing and waiting to see what wonderful things emerge from the kiln.

She uses a variety of techniques and glazes on hand-thrown ceramics - from simple to sensual shapes - working in earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Having studied Fine Art at Hornsey College of Art, she worked for a time producing posters, book jackets, corporate identities and record sleeves. Later work designing knitwear allowed her to travel extensively, producing textile collections for many companies around the world. Returning to London, Georgia eventually left the hubbub of the city and set up home and studio in the valleys overlooking Bath.

It is from her studio, with nature all around, that Georgia throws her playful and undulating forms; the textures and colours each a snapshot of their maker's boundless creativity.
