Alice Gavalet
Overview
'I imagine my work in the studio as a child's play. I don't want to get bored, so I work quickly and instinctively. I don't overthink things, but I'm very focused. I decide on my own rules; I create my own manufacturing processes. Clay is like play dough to me.'
Born in 1978, Gavalet lives and works in Nogent-sur-Marne, France. She works between design, sculpture, and painting. Ceramic furniture and sculpture come to the forefront, in a myriad of colours, textures, and forms. Her Charmotte clay pieces are covered in layers of glazes and slips that are endlessly playful and speak to the joy of making.
