Camille Biddell

Overview

Camille is an artist, potter, and facilitator working with sculptural ceramics. Rooted in traditional processes, her practice reimagines historical techniques with playfulness and respect, exploring the boundaries between functionality and ritual. Themes of heritage and place are central to her work.

Using hand-building methods, she creates vessels from moulds and found textures, building complex surfaces through layered slips that evoke both opulence and decay.

Originally trained in Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, she discovered ceramics during an Erasmus year in Strasbourg. She was an Associate Artist at Open School East, Margate (2020–21), and refined her technical skills at Clay College Stoke (2022–24). Her practice is driven by a belief in clay’s potential as a tool for conversation, collaboration, and critical reflection on social and environmental issues.
