'I worked on this project for just over a year, through all elements of the weather. Like all of my works they have been created by the wonder of nature, once a trees life cycle has come to an end I take it upon myself to work on the timber and transform it into a certain form. I take great satisfaction when my forms are placed into natural landscapes where they were created, it’s always quite a powerful moment'

Tom Heywood is a designer and maker based in Penzance, Cornwall, specialising in handcrafted furniture, sculpture, and interior pieces. Working primarily with wood, he combines traditional and contemporary woodworking techniques to create distinctive, often sculptural forms. In 2022, Tom completed a project carving large-scale figures from Ash and Beech stumps that had fallen during Storm Eunice, Using his fascination with human depictions and surrounding nature.
