8 Holland Street is thrilled to launch Checkerboard, our first collaboration with our friends at Vanderhurd, now on view at our London gallery.
Born from Vanderhurd founder Christine Van Der Hurd and 8 Holland Street founder Tobias Vernon's shared passion for European and Continental 20th century design and a close working relationship and friendship, Checkerboard is a collection of six dhurrie rugs that play with this classic design tradition and re-invent it using unexpected colour combinations, structured scaling and textures.
Deceptive in their simplicity, these softly linear designs are produced using technically complex handweaving processes by highly skilled craftspeople in India, and are made in 100% natural hand-spun hemp.
