AMATA BENEDICT: IN RUINS : An Exhibition at 8 Holland Street Bath Gallery

11 December 2025 - 7 February 2026
Overview
8 Holland Street is thrilled to announce AMATA BENEDICT: IN RUINS. An exhibition of witty artefacts, objects and homewares at 8 Holland Street BATH Gallery.

IN RUINS
is a playful exploration into the excavation of memories both cultural and personal. Reimagined artefacts and chimerical forms emerge like relics uncovered from the subconscious. The exhibition leads us through doorways and over thresholds encountering mythic stories, rituals and psychopomps along the way.

Amata Benedict is an artistic partnership that collaborates on sculpture, textiles, and furniture. Their practice is rooted in the principles of the Renaissance ‘bottega’ workshop, where multiple disciplines converge to create works that seamlessly blend the realms of art, functional objects, and crafted artefacts. From quilted canvas to appliqué, ceramics to sculpture, and bronze, steel, and wood, their work spans a diverse range of materials and forms.

The duo’s medium is shaped by repurposed textiles, deconstructed and reconfigured furniture, as well a metal sculptures and clay works. Drawing inspiration from both ancient art and everyday contemporary objects, Amata Benedict’s creations celebrate the intersection of history, functionality, and artistry.
