TIME SPENT PLAYING WITH CERAMICS MAKING IN HIS GARDEN SHED DURING LOCKDOWN HAS LED INTERIOR DESIGNER GAVIN HOUGHTON TO THE PERFECT OUTLET FOR HIS HUMOUR AND WIT.

WE TAKE A PEEK INSIDE HIS STOCKWELL GARDEN SHED TO FIND OUT MORE...

Gavin Houghton is no stranger to creativity. He started his career as an intern at World of Interiors having studied Fashion Design at Kingston School of Art, before embarking on a hugely successful career as an independent interior designer.

Stepping into Gavin's Stockwell home is a tasteful explosion of colour, pattern, artworks and objects - often with a hint of naughtiness and tongue in cheek. Attending ceramics classes in the catacombs of an old church in Lambeth was the grounding for time spent in his red garden shed in lockdown working on collections of ceramics.

Gavin likes to work spontaneously, with inspiration coming from the likes of Jean Cocteau - always with a sense of the provocative and playful. With a podcast on in the background, the red shed at the bottom of the garden serves as a childlike escape for making...
