8 Holland Street is thrilled to announce Io! Amata Benedict. An exhibition in Kensington based on the ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia.

Salutation: “Io, Saturnalia!” — Io (pronounced “e-o”)

Amata Benedict’s romantic Roman interior is led by the myths and domestic objects of the ancients. Objects and art from the past's paraphernalia - Amata Benedict imbue each work with their own personal history and certain wry wit.

The interior is a curation of both original works such as ceramic lamps, hand stitched textiles, candlestick holders to tables and chairs made new from found materials.

Amata Benedict are an artistic partnership working collaboratively in sculpture, ceramics, textiles and furniture. A practice based on the prolific principles of an Italian renaissance ‘bottega’ workshop - from appliqué to ceramics, sculptures in bronze, steel and wood.

Parallel to the exhibition, the Lower Ground Floor of our original Kensington gallery relaunches as 8 Holland Street: Object, showcasing a carefully curated selection of British and European Studio Pottery from celebrated makers such a Jim Malone and Mike Dodd, as well as contemporary design by artists such as Nicola Tassie and Prue Piper, together with an edit of vintage lighting, furniture and artworks.
