We are thrilled to announce Luke Hannam's 'the power of the popular song’ now showing at our flagship space in St James's Park.
As a painter, performer & songwriter, Luke Hannam is drawn to narrative. This exhibition melds the artist’s past monumental works such as ‘The Compass and The Rosary,’ 2022 with a new body of work, representing an important shift for the artist, particularly captured in his series ‘Boy on a Bike’, 2023 embracing both a personal mythology & the artist’s connection to the outer world.
“My aim has been to search out memories capable of triggering feelings of joy and represent these reflections as boldly and directly as possible.
The title of the show ‘the power of the popular song’ directly references the immediacy of the pop song and makes an analogous connection to the visceral intensity of riding a bike with no hands or just cycling for the pure feeling of freedom.” Luke Hannam, 2024
Luke Hannam currently lives in Rye, East Sussex. Exhibited and collected internationally, including the collections of Stefan Simchowitz and David Kowitz. Hannam is represented by Anima Mundi in St Ives, Cornwall.
