Katherine Fraser

Overview

For textiles designed and hand-woven just a hop, skip, and a jump from 8 Holland Street Bath, look no further than Katherine Fraser, a craftsman of time-honoured skill with modern sensibilities.

Just as the historical ‘dobby’ loom is the symbolic kernel of Katherine Fraser’s practice, time was when one would enter the old Walcot Street store and comes across it sitting in pride of place and, more often than not, to find the weaver herself meticulously working away. Having relocated to a new studio nearby, the business maintains its mission to ensure such accessibility of the loom and its bounty.

Using the best of British natural yarns for durability and sustainability, such as 100% merino lambswool, these promise to be forever possessions, destined for everyone. Whether one takes part in a weaving-workshop to create a personal design, or whether a Katherine Fraser original graces one’s person, as a scarf, or one’s home, there is a sense of real intimacy with traditional artisanship vibrantly materialised.
